Recently, it was confirmed to News 12 that the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office identified the driver that hit a 25 year old Shannon Mathis and her sister Tuesday night. Mathis was killed. The driver was arrested.

It was Willie David Bragg Jr. who was arrested in Sylvania, Georgia. He was in the process of moving from the Bennock Mill Road area to Sylvania.

Bragg had a previous DUI arrest in Richmond County in 2008 and alcohol may be a factor in this hit and run crash.

There was a witness to the hit and run crash that the Sheriff’s Office interviewed the other day. Apparently he was helping the suspect move and deputies believe the witness saw the accident unfold.

Also, the Deputies confirmed Bragg was a neighbor of both victims.

“Bragg is facing numerous charges according to deputies including felony hit and run, vehicular homicide, failure to maintain lane and other traffic charges as well.”
