M. Brandon SmithMarch 31, 2007 11:12 PMCraig Fineza, 43, is now right where he should be after causing a three car accident and then leaving the scene: Jail. Fineza was reportedly driving a Dodge Ram when he rear ended a Chevy Blazer being operated by another motorist. The impact from the accident forced the Blazer into the opposite lane of travel where it was then struck by a Food Windstar van. Fineza, then left the scene of the accident before the police arrived on the scene because he did not have a valid driver's license. Three people were seriously injured in the accident and were taken to a local hospital in Richmond County for treatment.
Mr. Fineza turned himself in to authorities Tuesday at about 1:45 a.m. and was booked into the Law Enforcement Center at about 3:15 a.m., said Richmond County sheriff's Investigator Tess Alexander-Brunson
Craig Fineza, 43, of Hartwell, Ga., remained in the Richmond County jail late Tuesday and faces felony charges of leaving the scene of an accident, a restricted-license violation and following too closely, a jail official said.
Now that this hit and run driver is in jail, he should have ample opportunity to reflect on the reckless nature of his actions. Maybe the criminal and civil sanctions he is sure to face shortly will make him think twice before engaging in such a wanton and willful course of conduct in the future.
