This past Friday, a car accident occurred around 11 a.m. in Dublin, Georgia when a car [reportedly] pulled out from Kellam Road onto Telfair Street. The car pulled into the path of a bus heading south. Dublin Police Sgt. James Champion said the driver of the bus locked the brakes of the bus and then the bus slid about 40 feet, trying to avoid hitting another vehicle. There was also a tractor trailer traveling south that locked the brakes on the truck which than slid 70 feet into the rear of the bus.

Who was at fault for this accident?

Stacye Lee from the Courier Herald Online said the drivers of the bus and truck were charged with driving too fast for the conditions, although neither were speeding. The car pulling out in front of the bus was the cause of the accident. The car left the scene and no description was taken of the car.

There were 29 students on the bus and they were sent to the hospital. They were all released the same day. Most had minor cuts, but five students were taken away by ambulance. However, all students, teachers, and bus driver were released by the afternoon on the same day.

The holidays are just around the corner. More people will be driving meaning there will be more congestion on the roads. It is important to be safe and aware of your surroundings when you are driving. Please read our past post Do you know what to do if you are in a car accident?
