More Peanut Butter Salmonella Cases Identified By The CDC

In its first update in more than a month the CDC has recently confirmed 628 cases of salmonella in those people who ingested contaminated peanut butter manufactured by ConAgra Foods, Inc. The CDC Report, shows that citizens of 47 states have now been affected by the recalled Peter Pan and Great Value peanut butter.

The actual effects and reach of the contaminated peanut butter far exceeds the 628 patient number recently issued by the CDC. Our office alone has spoke with more than 1000 that became seriously ill after eating the contaminated peanut butter containing the labeling code 2111. Given our recent discussions and investigations, ConAgra will soon be facing more than 10,000 claims of affected individuals who ingested their defective peanut butter product.

ConAgra has indicated than plan to reintroduce their peanut butter product in July of 2007. Given all the devastating effects and things their salmonella containing product has caused and the lack of faith millions of consumers now have in ConAgra products, the real question becomes will anyone buy it when they do?
