Wyeth, the manufacture of the notorious diet drug "Fen-Phen", recently got final judicial approval to set up a legal settlement fund for the remaining consumers who were adversely affected by its use. The drug caused heart valve damage and primary pulmonary hypertension (PPH) from users of the drug cocktail fen-phen, also known as Redux and Pondimin.

According to WTOPNEWS.COM

The drug combination was pulled from the market in 1997 amid concerns that it caused heart-valve defects and other problems. Some 5.8 million people had taken the drug.

The supplemental fund covers plaintiffs with the least serious problems, and was created to ensure that the first settlement fund did not run dry for those with more serious problems. With final court appeals exhausted, the supplemental fund has now become final.

For many thousands of consumers who took this diet drug, this is good news in that they may finally get the just compensation they deserve for Wyeth's worldwide manufacture and distribution of such a dangerous and deadly product.
