Fellow InjuryBoard blogger Bob Carroll of Tampa Bay, Florida brought my attention to a rising number of concerns relating to certain antibiotics like Cipro that are in need of stronger warnings on its prescribing labels. Cipro and other similar antibiotics from the fluoroquinolone class have been linked to tendon injuries in the past but now as the use of these drugs grow in popularity, so do the number of new tendon related injuries. The Public Citizen, a consumer advocacy group, is now calling for a "black-box" warning on these type of drugs, which is the strongest warning a drug manufacturer can give. For more information on the Public Citizen's efforts to make drugs safer for the consuming public read this Atlanta Journal Constitution article.

Yes I agree, this stuff is horrible. I had no idea of the side-effects, and I'm a nurse. I just trusted my Dr. and took it when I was on vacation in the D.R. to ward off any infection.

Silly me! I had horrible reactions to it! I didn't realize what was going on until 5 days into the the script, by then it was too late.

I'm still suffering the after-effects, and I wonder if I'll ever feel good again. This is not a drug that should be prescribed without caution!
