A tragic five-vehicle accident on Westbound I-285 in Georgia shut the highway down for two hours today leaving one motorcyclist dead, reported the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

This accident included an SUV, an 18-wheeler and three motorcycles.

Because of this accident, I-285 westbound west of Flat Shoals Road and I-285 southbound at I-20 were closed. The ramps reopened around 1:30 p.m.

Five people on the three motorcycles were injured and taken into area hospitals. One is in serious condition and four in moderate condition.

correction: there was no 18-wheeler involved. there were 3 motorcycles 1 suv & 1 minivan.

recanting my comment: thus far i have seen multiple accounts of actual vehicles involved. 2 tractor trailors, 1 tractor trailor, 2 suvs, etc... not knowing which is true please ignore my comment (didnt see option to delete)

Thanks for the info though. I have family in town for the NBR. Safety is very important. Thanks again.

Sharing information is never a problem with us yk1. We are about getting the message out and learning from previous issues so that history does not repeat itself in a negative way. We always appreciate different views and insight from others such as yourself. Sometimes the initial information can be misdirected or even wrong depending on the timing and source of the information. Take care and God sped to the families involved in this tragic situation.
