Gwinnett Police Officer Arrested After Causing DUI Accident In Georgia

27 year old Gwinnett County police officer James Stoudenmire caused aDUI car accident on Pleasant Hill Road when leaving Wild Bill’s, a dance club. He rear-ended a Mazda at a stop light while driving in his Mustang. One of the passengers in the Mazda is being treated for a leg injury.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the officer “noticed a strong odor of alcohol on Stoudenmire’s breath and that Stoudenmire was unsteady during the field sobriety test.”

Stoudenmire was off duty at the time and said he drank four 28oz beers at Wild Bills. As a result of this DUI accident, Stoudenmire was charged with following too closely. He was also charged with DUI and was released from jail on a $1,557 bond.

According to Gwinnett County police report, Stoudenmire was so drunk he "stumbled and fell against the wall across from the holding cell.

He is now being placed on administrative leave until further investigation is completed by the department’s Professional Standards Unit.

It is a shame he chose this ourse of conduct and placed innocent lives in danger by doing. Thankfully, no one was seriously injured by his recekless and careless actions.

Drunk Georgia Driver Crashes Into Home

We previously posted on an SUV crashing into a Douglasville, Georgia home. William Stuart, 47 years old of Douglas County, crashed into the Bryant family’s home this past weekend.

As a result of this tragic car crash, George Michael, a grandfather, was killed and his nine year old granddaughter was placed in critical condition. George Michael’s wife was also hospitalized but is now recovering according to report.

The latest news with this deadly car accident is that Stuart was arrested Monday afternoon. As suspected previously, the Georgia State Patrol charged Stuart with vehicular homicide, driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to maintain a single lane, no proof of insurance, and two counts of serious injury by vehicle reckless driving.

Right now, Stuart is being held at the Douglas County Jail, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Stuart is supposed to have his bond hearing sometime today.

More information will be posted as it is made availaible but hopfully this drunk driver will remain in custody until more information concerning the facts and circumstances of this fatal Georgia accident are uncovered.

Car Flip Kills Georgia College Student

A car entered I-285 from westbound U.S. 78 this past Sunday morning. A 24 year old college student was driving the car when it flipped over.

This car accident occurred around 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning. The student was identified as Monyjok Yak. Dekalb Police spokesman Officer Jason Gagnon said, “He was going around that curve too fast and flipped his car. It’s a bad curve.”

As a result of this car flip, the student was killed at the scene.

SUV Crashed into Georgia Home

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, a Lincoln Navigator crashed into a Georgia home this weekend. It was the Bryant family who faced this tragic SUV house crash.

The SUV was traveling at a high rate of speed and knocked down several mailboxes and bushes and hit a parked car before crashing into the left side of the home about 50 feet of Berea Road in Douglasville, Georgia.

George Michael Bryant was watching a movie with his wife, daughter and two grandchildren last night. As a result of this crash, George Michael was killed and his 9 year old granddaughter is in critical condition.

The driver of the SUV is William Steward, 47 years old of Douglas County. Steward was taken to the hospital but his condition is currently unknown.

Douglas County coroner Randy Daniel said, “I’ve been a coroner for 27 years, and I’ve never seen nothing like this. Never. Never.”

George Michael’s wife is in fair condition at Atlanta Medical Center and his daughter, Shannon Bryant, and 13 year old grandson were treated at a hospital and have already been released.

One of the neighbors said, “It looks like a bus hit it.”

Because this could lead to a criminal prosecution, the State Patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team responded to the scene. Apparently, Steward could face vehicular homicide.

Five Year Old Boy Hit By Car in Georgia

Last night, a five year old boy was hit by a car in Marietta, Georgia. He was crossing the street, according to Atlanta Journal-Constitution, when the car struck him.

The name of the boy has not been released. He was with his mom when he was crossing Powder Springs Street near Oregon Trail.

There were two other children with him as well. This all occurred a little after 9 p.m.

A Honda Accord driven by a Marietta man hit this little boy. He was airlifted to the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite, in critical condition.

No one else has any injuries and the accident is still under investigation.

Georgia Spends $31.5 million to take away a Reversible Lane

A major road project in Georgia this year includes taking away a lane, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

U.S. 78 in Gwinnett County, Georgia has a system of three reversible lanes. Apparently, they are so confusing and “potentially hazardous,” that according to some local officials, “it was worth $31.5 million to make them go away.”

DOT spokesperson Mark McKinnon said, “Our official reason was, we looked at traffic volumes. With businesses taking hold in the suburbs, commutes are no longer headed solely downtown, he added, making many reversible lanes obsolete.”

What’s the purpose of a reversible lane? Well, when there is lots of traffic with many commuters traveling in the same direction, this type of lane saves an “extra lane’s worth of space.” However, they require quick thought. “Drivers must make split-second decisions about where to direct their 3,000-pound projectiles as they whiz along.”

Hopefully, this project will save confusion and prevent more car accidents occurring.

Tragic Car Accident Takes Life of One in Dekalb County, Georgia

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, a car accident occurred early today on the Stone Mountain Freeway in Dekalb County, Georgia.

This car accident occurred around 1 a.m. in the eastbound lanes between I-285 and Brockett Road. It involved two vehicles.

One person was tragically killed. No identity of the person killed was released and no other details have been released about this car wreck.

The highway was once again reopened today around 4:30 a.m. after the wreckage was cleared.

Gordon County Tragic Car Accident Shuts down I-75

WRCB tv eyewitness news reported that two people were killed in a car accident on I-75 northbound in Gordon County, Georgia.

I-75 northbound was shut down for about two hours. According to Georgia State Patrol, one car was involved in the accident.

There were two passengers in the car and they were killed when the car hit a guardrail. The driver of the car survived.

Eyewitness News will be bringing more information as it becomes available. The driver’s condition is unknown at the moment.

Georgia Driver Dies after Striking a Fence

A man from Lawrenceville, Georgia died earlier today in a car accident. Arnulfo Barrera, 35 years old, was driving his car when it ran off a Lilburn road and hit an iron fence.

The car crash occurred around 4:15 a.m. and Barrera was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

When Barrera was heading north on Lilburn Stone Mountain Road in his 1994 Nissan Sentra, he failed to negotiate a curve—this caused his car to run off the road into the fence.

Barrera was driving alone. “Investigators are awaiting toxicology reports to determine if alcohol or drugs contributed to the accident, police said.”

Tragic Georgia Car Accident Takes 4 Lives

According to Fox News, four people died when a pickup truck going the wrong way on Interstate 95 collided head on with a minivan about a week ago. They were headed from New York to Florida.

Georgia State Patrol said that the I-95 southbound was closed for about four hours after the accident around 6:30 a.m., south of Savannah in Richmond Hill.

“Alcohol is going to be a factor,” said Trooper Chris Cuddington. He also said that the pickup was headed north in the center southbound lane.

Michael Delph, 28 years old from Clemson, South Carolina was the driver of the truck and the female driver and two men in the minivan were killed from this tragic accident.

The female driver was Michelle Carryl, 41 years old from Apopka, Florida and the passengers were Cyril Millington, 59 years old from Queens, New York and Dwight Spencer, around 19 years old, from Apopka.

This car accident is still under investigation.
