Tragic Car Accident Takes Life of One in Dekalb County, Georgia

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, a car accident occurred early today on the Stone Mountain Freeway in Dekalb County, Georgia.

This car accident occurred around 1 a.m. in the eastbound lanes between I-285 and Brockett Road. It involved two vehicles.

One person was tragically killed. No identity of the person killed was released and no other details have been released about this car wreck.

The highway was once again reopened today around 4:30 a.m. after the wreckage was cleared.

Gordon County Tragic Car Accident Shuts down I-75

WRCB tv eyewitness news reported that two people were killed in a car accident on I-75 northbound in Gordon County, Georgia.

I-75 northbound was shut down for about two hours. According to Georgia State Patrol, one car was involved in the accident.

There were two passengers in the car and they were killed when the car hit a guardrail. The driver of the car survived.

Eyewitness News will be bringing more information as it becomes available. The driver’s condition is unknown at the moment.

Georgia Driver Dies after Striking a Fence

A man from Lawrenceville, Georgia died earlier today in a car accident. Arnulfo Barrera, 35 years old, was driving his car when it ran off a Lilburn road and hit an iron fence.

The car crash occurred around 4:15 a.m. and Barrera was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

When Barrera was heading north on Lilburn Stone Mountain Road in his 1994 Nissan Sentra, he failed to negotiate a curve—this caused his car to run off the road into the fence.

Barrera was driving alone. “Investigators are awaiting toxicology reports to determine if alcohol or drugs contributed to the accident, police said.”

Car Accident Leaves One Dead

Earlier this week A Carrollton man was killed after his car crashed on New Hope Church Road right before 9 p.m., according to Times-Georgian.

Georgia troopers could not be reached for comment at the time this publication was released but the Georgia State Patrol is currently investigating this tragic car accident.

Firefighters arrived at this single car crash and saw that two people inside the vehicle had been ejected. Jason Miles, 32 years old, was one of the people in the car. He was pronounced dead at Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton from injuries related to the car accident.

The other person’s name was not released but the female was airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.

Atlanta, Georgia Firefighter Pulls Two People From Burning Car

Earlier today around 11 am, 33 year old Karen Nowakowski, an Atlanta, Georgia firefighter, was on her way to run an errand and was not on duty.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Nowakowski knew she had to stop to help, after seeing one of the three cars catch on fire. She had to help the driver and passenger out of the car that was on fire. She actually pulled both men out of the driver’s side.

Nowakowski said, “It was like another day at work. I’m not a hero. It was just a fluke thing.”

Her fellow co-workers call her a “great firefighter.” She sure is humble and it’s great seeing people genuinely care about helping others.

Georgia Car Crash Leaves Teen Critically Injured

A car accident occurred on Tara Boulevard near Winding Way Lane in Jonesboro, Georgia, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

According to Clayton County Police Spokeswomen Lt. Rebecca Brown, a car was heading south on Tara Blvd. It then overturned several times, landing in the northbound lane.

The road was blocked for an hour northbound by officers so they could remove one of the passengers who was hanging from the window.

The passenger was rushed to Southern Regional Medical Center and is now listed as in critical condition. According to Brown, his injuries were listed as life-threatening.

The identities of the driver and passengers are not available right now. There were other passengers in the car as well as the driver and they were treated for minor injuries at Spalding Regional Medical Center in Griffin.

Right now there is still investigation ongoing but “it appears the driver over corrected.”

83 Year Old Died After Car Crash in Georgia

According to Atlanta Journal-Constitution (AJC), Charles Daniels was driving a 1993 Toyota pickup Friday morning.

While he turned left off North Crestview Drive on to Grayson Parkway near Snellville, he drove in front of an on-coming 2007 Jeep.

Daniels was 83 years old from Grayson, Georgia. He died from injuries sustained from this tragic car accident.

Investigators have said that Daniels failed to yield and was at fault. AJC says that the other driver’s name has not been released yet.

Georgia Woman Dies after Injuries From Car Accident, following the Death of Her Son

A car accident occurred at 12:54 p.m. this past Tuesday between the Ga. 96 exit and Russell Parkway exit after one of the van’s tires blew out, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Michael Prather tried to pull over when he lost control of the van which overturned. His son, Matthew Prather, 15 years old, was a passenger along his wife, Jeanette and other son, Stephen Prather, 18 years old. All four family members were wearing seatbelts.

Matthew died from the car accident. Jeanette, Michael, and Stephen were treated at the Medical Center soon after the accident occurred.

Unfortunately, Jeanette’s condition worsened several days later and she was taken off life support, dying as a result of the injuries from this car accident.

Our thoughts are with the family in this time of tragedy.

Five Car Accident in Georgia Causes One Death

Georgia State Patrol Athens Post reported that a 41 year old Robert Mcilwain was tragically killed near Dry Pond Road this past Friday.

A tractor trailer hit his car and pushed it into the path of another semi-truck. The car then overturned, according to AcessNorthGa.

The driver of the tractor trailer also had serious injuries. Mcilwain was wearing a seatbelt during this car accident.

GSP officials said charges are pending. The car accident included three semi-trucks, a pick-up and Mcilwain’s Honda CR-V.

Our thoughts are with Mcilwain’s family at this time.

Two Georgia Car Accidents Result in 3 Deaths

Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that two separate car accidents occurred on I-285 in Georgia this weekend.

The first car accident was on I-285 Northbound I-20 at 11:50 p.m. yesterday. A white SUV lost control and rear-ended another car. It ended up being lodged between two trees. According to Capt. Eric Jackson of DeKalb County Fire Department, the driver of the SUV died at the scene. The driver from the other car was taken to a hospital and suffered non-life threatening injuries.

None of these names have been released.

About four hours later, the second car accident occurred on I-285 Southbound on the ramp to I-20 East. DeKalb County Police Spokeswoman Mekka Parish said that two people died and two were injured in this car accident.

“Police believe the driver of a gold Acura was speeding on I-285 and lost control when exiting to I-20, hitting a concrete barrier before traveling down the embankment.” The male driver and female front-seat passenger died. The two back-seat passengers were taken to a hospital with injuries. Their names have also not been released.
