Car Flip Kills Georgia College Student

A car entered I-285 from westbound U.S. 78 this past Sunday morning. A 24 year old college student was driving the car when it flipped over.

This car accident occurred around 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning. The student was identified as Monyjok Yak. Dekalb Police spokesman Officer Jason Gagnon said, “He was going around that curve too fast and flipped his car. It’s a bad curve.”

As a result of this car flip, the student was killed at the scene.

SUV Crashed into Georgia Home

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, a Lincoln Navigator crashed into a Georgia home this weekend. It was the Bryant family who faced this tragic SUV house crash.

The SUV was traveling at a high rate of speed and knocked down several mailboxes and bushes and hit a parked car before crashing into the left side of the home about 50 feet of Berea Road in Douglasville, Georgia.

George Michael Bryant was watching a movie with his wife, daughter and two grandchildren last night. As a result of this crash, George Michael was killed and his 9 year old granddaughter is in critical condition.

The driver of the SUV is William Steward, 47 years old of Douglas County. Steward was taken to the hospital but his condition is currently unknown.

Douglas County coroner Randy Daniel said, “I’ve been a coroner for 27 years, and I’ve never seen nothing like this. Never. Never.”

George Michael’s wife is in fair condition at Atlanta Medical Center and his daughter, Shannon Bryant, and 13 year old grandson were treated at a hospital and have already been released.

One of the neighbors said, “It looks like a bus hit it.”

Because this could lead to a criminal prosecution, the State Patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team responded to the scene. Apparently, Steward could face vehicular homicide.

Five Year Old Boy Hit By Car in Georgia

Last night, a five year old boy was hit by a car in Marietta, Georgia. He was crossing the street, according to Atlanta Journal-Constitution, when the car struck him.

The name of the boy has not been released. He was with his mom when he was crossing Powder Springs Street near Oregon Trail.

There were two other children with him as well. This all occurred a little after 9 p.m.

A Honda Accord driven by a Marietta man hit this little boy. He was airlifted to the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite, in critical condition.

No one else has any injuries and the accident is still under investigation.

Tragic Car Accident Takes Life of One in Dekalb County, Georgia

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, a car accident occurred early today on the Stone Mountain Freeway in Dekalb County, Georgia.

This car accident occurred around 1 a.m. in the eastbound lanes between I-285 and Brockett Road. It involved two vehicles.

One person was tragically killed. No identity of the person killed was released and no other details have been released about this car wreck.

The highway was once again reopened today around 4:30 a.m. after the wreckage was cleared.

Fatal Five Vehicle Accident leaves one Motorcyclist Dead

A tragic five-vehicle accident on Westbound I-285 in Georgia shut the highway down for two hours today leaving one motorcyclist dead, reported the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

This accident included an SUV, an 18-wheeler and three motorcycles.

Because of this accident, I-285 westbound west of Flat Shoals Road and I-285 southbound at I-20 were closed. The ramps reopened around 1:30 p.m.

Five people on the three motorcycles were injured and taken into area hospitals. One is in serious condition and four in moderate condition.

Georgia Car Crash Leaves Teen Critically Injured

A car accident occurred on Tara Boulevard near Winding Way Lane in Jonesboro, Georgia, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

According to Clayton County Police Spokeswomen Lt. Rebecca Brown, a car was heading south on Tara Blvd. It then overturned several times, landing in the northbound lane.

The road was blocked for an hour northbound by officers so they could remove one of the passengers who was hanging from the window.

The passenger was rushed to Southern Regional Medical Center and is now listed as in critical condition. According to Brown, his injuries were listed as life-threatening.

The identities of the driver and passengers are not available right now. There were other passengers in the car as well as the driver and they were treated for minor injuries at Spalding Regional Medical Center in Griffin.

Right now there is still investigation ongoing but “it appears the driver over corrected.”

4 Car Accident Causes Fatal Injuries

Recentyly two young children will killed in a car accident in Lexington County. The car accident occurred the Monday morning of June 22, 2009 about 8:45 a.m. at South Lake Drive near Bethany Church Road between Lexington and Pelion. The fatalities of the Chapin children, ages 5 and 3, were the result of a four-car wreck. Both their mother and two other drivers were sent to the hospital for injuries. There were two fatalities at the scene of the accident: Parker Hewitt, age 5, and his sister, Haley Hewitt age 3. The car involved was a 2001 Honda minivan. The Lexington county coroner, Harry Harman, said that both children where wearing seatbelts and were secured in their car seats properly.

Mother of Parker and Haley, Crystal Hewitt, was flown to the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia. Crystal Hewitt is 30 years old. The last update reported on her status by Associate pastor Rick Jones indicates that she is conscious but may need back surgery. Crystal Hewitt works as a full-time assistant manager at her church's Child Development Center, which is a licensed day-care facility. Crystal's husband, Craig, works at a bank and runs his own photography business on the side.

Parker and Haley are the couple's only children. The minivan had either stopped or slowed when it was struck from behind. Currently, accident reconstruction teams are investigating the potential possibilities. After the collision occurred another vehicle that was approaching the scene from the opposite direction was struck by the truck. Kenneth McGuire, age 56, of Lexington was driving the Kawasaki motorcycle. McGuire was airflighted to the Medical College of Georgia.

An investigation into the car wreck is still on going.

Five Car Accident in Georgia Causes One Death

Georgia State Patrol Athens Post reported that a 41 year old Robert Mcilwain was tragically killed near Dry Pond Road this past Friday.

A tractor trailer hit his car and pushed it into the path of another semi-truck. The car then overturned, according to AcessNorthGa.

The driver of the tractor trailer also had serious injuries. Mcilwain was wearing a seatbelt during this car accident.

GSP officials said charges are pending. The car accident included three semi-trucks, a pick-up and Mcilwain’s Honda CR-V.

Our thoughts are with Mcilwain’s family at this time.

Horse collides with Car and Kills Driver

George D. Satterfield, 56 years old, was heading north bound on U.S. Highway 129 when his car hit a wandering horse. His car was near Gaines Mill Road, which is about a mile and a half south of the Interstate 985 interchange southeast of Gainesville, Georgia.

Satterfield died as a result of the impact of the horse going through his windshield.

It was still dark outside during this accident because it occurred right before 6 a.m.

According to Gainesville Times, Satterfield’s car probably did not slow before hitting the horse. Hall County Coroner Marion Merck said that he probably never saw the horse. There were no skid marks at the scene.

The horse, chestnut-colored, fell from Satterfield’s car and was struck by another car going southbound but the driver from that car was not injured. The horse died as a result of the two car collisions.

The Georgia State Patrol is now requesting assistance from Georgia Department of Agriculture to locate the horse’s owner.

Jackie Sosebee, Agriculture department spokesperson, said a fatal car-horse collision in Georgia “is an unusual incident; this kind of thing doesn’t happen often.”

Georgia Man Dies from Car Accident

A local Georgia newspaper reported that “a local man succumbs to injuries from auto accident.”

Matthew Stalvey lost control of his 1997 Chevy Blazer when he was driving east on Highway 52 near Yahoola Creek Park.

The Georgia State Patrol reported that he was ejected from his truck after his truck struck a guardrail and then overturned.

He was then airlifted from the scene of the car accident. Matthew was only 21 years old and from Lumpkin County of Georgia.

“His injuries proved too serious to overcome as Stalvey never regained consciousness after the accident.”
