FDA just released news that Johnson & Johnson Merck Consumer Pharmaceuticals Company is voluntarily recalling Mylicon gas relief dye free drops. Specifically, the company is recalling about 12,000 units of the infants’ Mylicon gas relief dye free drops non-staining. These drops are sold in 1 oz. plastic bottles.

These specific drops were distributed after October 5, 2008 nationwide. FDA reports the potential for serious medical events is low. It was determined that some bottles of Mylicon gas relief dye free drops could include metal fragments generated during the manufacturing process.

If you are a parent who has given your infant these drops, stop using the product and immediately contact your health care provider. Additionally, FDA recommends calling the company at (800) 222-9435 or go to www.mylicon.com for instructions on how to dispose the product and ask for a refund.

NewsInferno reports that according to Johnson & Johnson, “most medical events that could occur as a result of the defective Mylicon Drops are expected to be temporary and resolve without medical treatment.”

I am very upset!! According to Johnson & Johnson, "the potential for serious medical events is low and if any problems do occur, it is expected that they will be temporary and resolve without treatment". The only thing this tells me is that Johnson and Johnson have no idea what the medical effects of their carelessness can consist of! Besides, how many people save the bottles after the medication is used? My Grandson has gone through several bottles since October 5!!!
